University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) was created in 2003 through the merger of the universities in Duisburg and Essen which were established in 1972. It is the youngest university in North Rhine-Westphalia and it is the ten largest universities in Germany. Students from over 130 nations have come to pursue their study at UDE. There are many good reasons to opt for UDE, most important to mention the various fields of studies, the care for students, especially from overseas and in mobility programs, as well as its research strength and international orientation.

The Faculty of Engineering is the largest faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen with more than 9,000 students. It consists of the following departments:

  • Civil Engineering

  • Computer Science and Cognitive Science

  • Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

  • Mechanical and Process Engineering, including;

  • Material Technology,

  • Industrial Engineering.
