Bachelor in International Engineering

What is the “Fast Track Program" to Bachelor International Studies in Engineering (ISE) by UDE?

Special Program Direct Admission to Bachelor ISE-UDE 

The Fast Track Program is a unique program exclusively for selected high school graduates with excellent marks in mathematics & physics by the UDE. In this project, UDE is permitted to select candidates and conduct some preparation courses directly in the home country. 


Through the Fast-track, these graduates are offered direct entrance into ISE and this saves the students time (no need to study A-level or join Studienkolleg) and money. Following and passing the Fast-Track program could allow students to study International Studies in Engineering (ISE) as early as the Winter Semester starting in October.

What Can You Study at Fast Track Program to ISE-Bachelor?

Engineering Courses

After passing the entry exam and TestAS, students will be guaranteed places in one of the following ISE programs: 

  • B.Sc. Structural (Civil) Engineering
  • B.Sc. Electrical, Electronic & Communications Engineering
  • B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering
  • B.Sc. Metallurgy and Metal Forming


Mandatory Requirements for Acceptance at UDE


  • Pass the UDE entrance exam which is conducted in English by Mercator Offices in Malaysia or Indonesia
  • Showing the result of TestAS with at least 100 points in both the Core Test and Engineering Module
  • German Language proficiency certificates of minimum level B1

Academic Requirements

Chinese Independent High Schools, Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with excellent grades and at least A in both Maths I and Maths II or Physics.

Academic reports

Showing consistently excellent marks per semester, especially for Natural Science subjects

TestAS

(Test for Academic Studies) Registration: http://www.testas.de/en/

English Requirement

English Certificate of TOEFL: 79 (IBT) / 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

German Language Proficiency

German certificate level B1 (German language will be provided by Mercator Office Malaysia)

CV and Motivation Letter

for the chosen degree program

Application Assistance

Detailed information about the application and procedure of the Fast Track Program can be obtained in the Mercator Offices. The Mercator Offices will support you by offering preparatory courses and services. The Mercator Office in Malaysia is also a certified test center for the compulsory TestAS certificate.

Preparation Course

Mercator Office in Malaysia offers preparation package at affordable fee in German language courses (GLC A1, A2, and B1), MINT (Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Science and Technology) and Intercultural Communication Courses (ICC) to prepare selected and successful students for the Bachelor Studies in ISE at UDE for the winter semester. With this, successful specific high school leavers can commence studies in NRW without following a prior Studienkolleg/ Foundation or Freshman Program (or similar). The courses are taught by highly qualified lecturers/instructors who are well experienced with teaching in both Germany & Malaysia.

Starting 2024 – 2028, the courses MINT and ICC in Indonesia and Malaysia will be conducted by the UDE via online for FREE with the fund from DAAD FIT Program.

独中生德国留学：Fast Track 项目

Fast Track项目是为高中毕业生而开设的特殊项目。已获得UEC（UEC-SML）级别的高中毕业生至少高级数学I和高级数学II或物理为A的优异成绩，可以申请一个特殊的入学考试直接进入国际工程学专业攻读学士学位。Mercator Office UKM将提供预备课程如STEM科目和Intercultural Communication于通过UDE入学考试的毕业生们。这样既节省了学生的时间(也无需修读或通过德国预科)和金钱。

Mechanical Engineering

I was enrolled into UDE via the Fast Track Programme offered by Mercator office. I am studying Mechanical Engineering in the ISE programme, and today marks one year of living and studying in Germany. To start off, I would not say that studying engineering in Germany is the easiest thing I’ve ever done, being in a foreign country, mastering a new language, learning subjects in German alongside managing all my meals and chores.

Nevertheless, I am very grateful to be given this opportunity; falling, tripping and overcoming the challenges, I grow into a more independent and stronger person day by day. The education system here is very different, it is up to my own disciplinary to show up for every class or none; besides lab reports, we rarely need to hand in assignments/homework. I am impressed with the cleanliness of the city and the transportation system here in Duisburg. I am very thankful to be able to expose myself to a new culture, learning and discovering new things everyday.

Fast-Track Program Bachelor ISE-UDE

Electrical & Electronic Engineering

Studying in Germany is one of the best decision I’ve made. Since I arrive here, I experience a lot of new things and surprises every day. The weather here is awesome, especially Spring. I was lucky enough to have a snowy winter last year (2016 winter), where the whole space outside my apartment was covered by snow. The lectures here are very flexible and not compulsory for attendance, but on the other side, the exams are not easy to make it. I had to work extra hard to get myself to pass all the subjects for every semester. Besides studying, I also spent some time travelling around NRW with my semester ticket. During Christmas period, me and my friends even visit each and every Christmas market in the state! I could say that I never regret coming here to start and enjoy my university life!

Currently being still 1st year in Mechanical Engineering, there’s not much information from me. Nonetheless, some

subjects won’t be ‘that’ easy to handle. It’s advisable to arrive few days prior to the commencement of your course and attend the orientation day. It’ll help a lot. What I deem most important is to be proficient in English, and in German if possible. When it comes to applying for documents in government agencies, it’ll take quite a bit of time and most of them don’t speak English.


In a nutshell, if you’re a versatile, ambitious and patient person, Germany is exactly where you should be. Last but not least, for the blocked account, it’d be better to opt Deutsche Bank instead of Fintiba services as some of the Fast Track students from Indonesia had problems opening a bank account with some of the banks (Sparkasse, Commerz-, Deutsche Bank) after arriving in Germany.
