DAAD project “Engineering Talents for Germany”UDE ‘FIT’ Program for International Talents: Opportunities for Students in Indonesia & Malaysia

Supported by funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the DAAD has launched the FIT Program (part of the Campus Initiative for International Talents). This initiative empowers German universities to provide international students with tailor-made support throughout their entire academic journey, ensuring they achieve academic success and transition smoothly into a career in Germany.

UDE: The ‘Engineering Talents for Germany’ Project

The University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), a leading German public university located in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), is pleased to announce its selection as a participant in the FIT Program.

As one of only 89 projects selected nationwide, the UDE Faculty of Engineering launched its specific initiative, “Engineering Talents for Germany,” on April 1, 2024. Running through 2028, this project is designed to support international students while addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in STEM (MINT) fields within Germany.

  • The initiative focuses on integrating international students and graduates into the German job market by offering:
  • Academic guidance and specialized language support.
  • Career coaching to navigate the German professional landscape.
  • Tailor-made resources to ensure both academic excellence and professional readiness.

Opportunities for International Students from Indonesia & Malaysia

In collaboration with and supported by the Mercator Office (Indonesia & Malaysia), the Faculty of Engineering at UDE is working to promote German engineering education and facilitate the transition for high-achieving students from Southeast Asia.

To boost interest in STEM subjects among prospective students in Indonesia and Malaysia, the Faculty is offering preparatory courses in STEM (MINT) and Intercultural Communication (ICC). Under the UDE FIT Project, these courses are provided free of charge.

The preparatory courses are specifically tailored for:

  • Students within the collaboration framework between UDE and Universitas Indonesia (UI) or Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
  • Fast Track applicants to the International Studies in Engineering (ISE) Bachelor’s program.
  • Prospective students interested in applying for the ISE Bachelor and Master’s program at UDE.
