Foreword MSE Director

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Dieter Schramm
Managing Director of Mercator Office
"It is of the utmost importance to me to contribute to the continuation of the 20-year success story of the Mercator Office. It is a source of great satisfaction that we will continue to be able to provide effective support to our students and partners in Asia. Of particular importance in this regard is the close relationship with the universities of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universitas Indonesia (UI), and University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) with whom we have enjoyed a trusting and extremely fruitful collaboration over this long period.
It is our intention to continue to endorse student exchanges in both directions, from Asia to Germany and vice versa, to the fullest extent of our capabilities, both through the provision of services and through the acquisition of funding from the DAAD and other funding organisations. The same is true of academic exchanges, whether through joint conferences or jointly supervised doctoral theses.
Should you have any questions, require assistance or have ideas and feedback, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant person in our offices or myself. Our experienced and dedicated staff will do their utmost to find a solution to almost any problem. Our goal is to support you in achieving your goals in an effective and trustworthy manner!"
