On April 9th 2025 a delegation from University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) visited the German Academic Exchange Service as part of its efforts to strengthen connections with key academic partners in Indonesia. The delegation included Prof. Karen Shire, Ph.D. (Vice Rector for University Culture, Diversity, and International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Alexander Malkwitz (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Dieter Schramm (Managing Director of MSE), and Prof. Dr. Axel Hunger (Senior Professor, Faculty of Engineering). Representatives from Mercator Office also joined the visit, which was hosted by Dr. Guido Schnieders, Head of DAAD Jakarta.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on international higher education, strengthen the relationship between UDE and DAAD Jakarta, and explore future opportunities for academic collaboration in Indonesia. The visit reflects the shared commitment of UDE, DAAD Jakarta, and Mercator Office to supporting international partnerships and expanding opportunities for Indonesian students to pursue higher education in Germany.
